Shoes: Gucci Black Leather Mid-Calf Boots – Workplace Office Shoes
Heel Height: 1.0 inch Heel, Almost Flat
Comfort Rating: 5/5. These boots have been well-worn and the leather is soft and has molded to my feet. Comfortable for all day walks and strolls in the park.
Material: Made of smooth calf leather, leather soles. Made in Italy.
Modifications: These are 38.5 and I found that they ran quite large, they would fit a size 8-9 easily. I guess with socks they would be more snug and form-fitting.
The insoles on the bottom also extend a little beyond the toes and the heels, adding to the illusion that these are really long shoes.
Soundtrack: “If I Were A Boy” by Beyoncé Knowles.

“If I were a boy, even just for a day
I’d roll out of bed in the morning
And throw on what I wanted
And go drink beer with the guys“
These Gucci black boots are really “manly” due to their style and cut. Note the wide square toes (which is actually a relief from pointed toes) that allow for wiggle room and extreme comfort. Also note the extended insoles beyond the toes and heels that allows for a wider surface area and better grip and traction during the rainy weather.
Nothing feminine or girly about these no-nonsense boots. Also why I wear them to work with pantsuits on days when I need to exude a more masculine feel at the workplace… because we all know the glass ceiling is still there, folks.
You can also see that these boots have been lovingly worn (translation = worn through thick and thin, in all sorts of weather and conditions). I never worry about having wet feet, which is important as Vancouver’s stormy fall weather is now in full swing.
The leather lining and the boot height (mid-calf) also keep my feet warm as the temperatures start to dip. We lose quite a bit of body heat through exposed feet, and if I were to continue wearing last weeks’ Prada flats at the office, my toes would fall off. Eventually.
The only visible logos are the Gucci house colors (red and green in a ribbon tab at the top). Easily tucked into the boot so that they are inconspicuous and under-the-radar. The Italian craftsmanship of the boots makes for a comfortable experience, whether it’s a work day at the office or a stroll along one of Vancouver’s nature trails.
All in all, a great pair of Autumn boots for the workplace, functional and practical.
